Are you the next Schuylkill County Idol?!?!
To become a contestant in the Schuylkill County Idol 7 Contest, just fill out your registration
form and song selection form, attach a photo of yourself, and return it all to the
Schuylkill Mall Customer Service Center by noon on June 30 th .
The contest will begin at 6pm on June 30 th in Center Court. All contestants should arrive one hour before the contest starts . Contestants will sing to karaoke music provided by Mugs and Magic. Depending upon the number of registrants, contestants may be required to sing a shortened version of the song. Contestants should be prepared to sing all or only a portion of their chosen song. Once a contestant's song selection sheet has been submitted it will be given to Mugs and Magic. If they do not have the music, the contestant will be notified within 2 to 3 business days and then must choose a different song. Contestants must perform the song listed on the selection sheet, unless the Mall is notified of a change by noon on June 30 th .
Three special guest judges will score each contestant, on a scale of one to ten, in three categories: Stage Presence, Technical Ability, and Overall Performance. Appearance, as a fourth category, will be counted only in the situation there is a tie. Judges scores will be tallied and the 10 contestants with the highest overall scores will advance to the next round. The 10 Quarter Finalists' names will be posted at Center Court by 3:00 on July 1 st . An email will also be sent to all contestants who provide an email address on their registration form.
The contest continues through the month of July. The ten Quarter Finalists will each perform 2 songs on July 7th at 6:00 pm. After the last contestant sings their second song, shoppers, family and friends will be invited to vote for their favorite. Everyone present may only vote once, but may vote for several contestants on the same ballot. The public will be required to provide valid identification in order to be eligible to cast their vote. In addition to the votes, the judges will also score the contestants in the 4 previously mentioned categories. Votes may continue to be cast from July 8 th thru 12 th , one per customer, per day, at Customer Service. The judges' scores and the shoppers' votes will each count for 50% of the contestant's total score. Those with the top 6 scores will become the Semi-Finalists and will be announced by 3:00 pm on Monday, July 13 th . Their names will be posted in Center Court and via email to those who provided an address.
The Semi-Finalists will perform on July 14 th at 6:00pm. During the Semi-Final round, contestants may be assigned songs by judges, choose from potluck songs, or may be tested in other ways. Expect surprises! Scoring will occur in the same manner listed above. The voting period will last from July 15 th thru 19 th . The 3 contestants with the top scores will become the Finalists and their names will be announced by 3:00 on July 20 th .
The final three contestants will give it their all one last time on July 21 st at 6:00pm. Contestants can again expect to be ‘tested' and the scoring will occur in the same manner. The voting period will last from July 22 nd thru 26 th . The Schuylkill County Idol will be revealed in a special ceremony that will take place on Monday, July 27 th at 6:00 in Center Court. All three Finalists must be present and will be asked to perform one final time.
The Schuylkill County Idol will join the ranks of 2003 winner Bridget Joyce, 2004 winner Tiffany Bet , 2005 winner Isaiah Little, 2006 winner Ashley Firestine, 2007 winner Tom Guastavino and 2008 winner Aldaliz Corona in holding the title! Plus, they will be awarded a $1,000 mall shopping spree, a makeover courtesy of Regis Hairstylists, a gift courtesy of the Bon-Ton, a digital caricature package courtesy of Angie Jordan and the chance to sing at the Schuylkill County Fair on Saturday, August 1 st and much more!
